Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 June 2026
1. Who we are
paasai is a real-time voice translation service operated by MS Digital Crafts Pty Ltd (ACN 698 682 254), an Australian company with its registered office in Victoria, Australia. References in this Privacy Policy to "we", "us", "our" or "paasai" mean MS Digital Crafts Pty Ltd. References to "you" mean any person who uses paasai.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your personal information, you can contact us at any time at msdigitalcrafts@gmail.com or via paasai.app/contact.
2. Information we collect
We collect personal information in the following ways:
A. Information you provide directly to us
- Your email address, when you sign up or sign in (we use a one-time code sent to your email — we do not collect or store passwords).
- Any information you send us when you contact us (e.g. the contents of an email you send to support).
B. Information generated through your use of paasai
- Voice recordings of what you say into the app.
- Transcripts of those recordings (the text version of what you said).
- Translations of those transcripts into the languages you select.
- Records of which conversations you have participated in and which features you have used.
C. Information collected automatically when you visit paasai
- Technical information such as your IP address, device type, operating system, browser type, and the pages or features you interact with.
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies.
D. Information from payment and other service providers
- When you purchase coins or other paid features, our payment processor (Polar) handles your payment card details directly — we do not see or store your full card number. Polar shares with us a record of your transaction (amount, currency, date, and a transaction reference).
We do not collect any "sensitive information" as defined in the Australian Privacy Act (such as health, biometric identifiers used for identification, racial origin, religious beliefs, or sexual orientation). We do collect voice recordings, but only to transcribe and translate them — we do not use voice recordings to identify you.
3. How we use your information
We use the personal information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide paasai's translation service. We send your voice recording to our transcription provider (Groq) to convert it to text, then send that text to our translation provider (Anthropic) to translate it into the language you have selected. Without doing this, we cannot translate what you say.
- To operate your account. We use your email address to sign you in via one-time code, to identify your account on subsequent visits, and to associate your usage history with you.
- To handle payments. When you purchase coins or other paid features, we use your transaction records to credit your account and to maintain records required by tax and accounting law.
- To communicate with you. We use your email address to send you sign-in codes, receipts for purchases, important service notices (such as security incidents or material changes to this Privacy Policy), and replies to messages you send us.
- To keep paasai working and secure. We use technical information (IP address, device data, error reports) to detect and prevent abuse, debug problems, prevent fraud, and protect the security of our users and our infrastructure.
- To understand and improve paasai. We use aggregate usage data to understand which features are used, how users move through the app, and where the experience can be improved.
- To comply with our legal obligations. Where required by law, we use and retain personal information to comply with tax law, consumer protection law, valid law enforcement requests, court orders, and our obligations under the Australian Privacy Act (including the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme).
We will not use your personal information for any purpose that is materially different from those listed above without first telling you and, where required by law, obtaining your consent.
4. Legal bases for processing (EU/UK users)
This section applies if you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR require us to tell you the "legal basis" we rely on for each purpose for which we process your personal information.
We rely on the following legal bases:
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Providing the translation service to you | Performance of a contract — GDPR Art 6(1)(b) |
| Operating your account and signing you in | Performance of a contract — GDPR Art 6(1)(b) |
| Handling payments | Performance of a contract — GDPR Art 6(1)(b), and compliance with a legal obligation — GDPR Art 6(1)(c) |
| Sending transactional emails (sign-in codes, receipts, service notices) | Performance of a contract — GDPR Art 6(1)(b) |
| Replying to messages you send us | Our legitimate interest — GDPR Art 6(1)(f) — in responding to user contact |
| Detecting and preventing abuse, fraud, and security incidents | Our legitimate interest — GDPR Art 6(1)(f) — in keeping paasai safe and secure |
| Aggregate analytics and product improvement | Our legitimate interest — GDPR Art 6(1)(f) — in understanding and improving our service |
| Complying with tax, accounting, law-enforcement, and other legal obligations | Compliance with a legal obligation — GDPR Art 6(1)(c) |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered the impact on you and concluded that our processing does not override your rights and freedoms. You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests at any time — see Section 9 below.
5. Who we share your information with
We share personal information only in the limited circumstances described below. We do not sell your personal information to data brokers or any other third party for money.

B. Legal authorities
We may disclose personal information when we are required to do so by law — for example, in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or law-enforcement request — or when we reasonably believe that disclosure is necessary to prevent imminent harm, fraud, or other unlawful activity. Where the law allows us to do so, we will tell you about the request.
C. Corporate transactions
If MS Digital Crafts Pty Ltd is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or sale of all or part of its business or assets, personal information may be transferred to the other party as part of that transaction. We will notify you (for example, by email or a notice on paasai) before any such transfer becomes effective if you continue to be a paasai user.
D. With your consent
We may share your personal information with other third parties where you have specifically asked us to.
6. International data transfers
paasai is operated from Australia. Your personal information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in countries other than the one you live in — including the United States, Japan, and Singapore — by the service providers listed in Section 5. Those countries' laws may differ from your own.
For transfers out of the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, where applicable).
For transfers out of Australia, you acknowledge — by using paasai — that we may not always be able to enforce Australian privacy law against an overseas recipient, and you consent to those disclosures.
7. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information for as long as your paasai account is active, or for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
If you ask us to delete your account, we will take reasonable steps to delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable period. We may retain some information where we believe it is necessary or appropriate to do so — including, without limitation, to comply with applicable law, to enforce our Terms of Service, to detect or prevent fraud or abuse, to defend or pursue legal claims, to maintain backup, archive, security, or audit logs, or for any other legitimate business purpose. Backup copies may persist until they are routinely overwritten in the ordinary course of our operations.
Before acting on a deletion or access request, we may require you to verify your identity to a reasonable standard.
Aggregate, statistical, and de-identified data that does not identify you may be retained indefinitely.
8. How we protect your information
We use technical and organisational security measures we consider appropriate to the nature of paasai and the personal information we process. The specific measures we use are at our sole discretion and we may change them at any time.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- no method of internet transmission, electronic storage, or processing system is or can be perfectly secure;
- we do not warrant, represent, or guarantee that personal information will not be accessed, lost, altered, disclosed, or destroyed without authorisation;
- you are responsible for keeping your sign-in email account, devices, and credentials secure, and we are not responsible for any loss arising from your failure to do so;
- we are not responsible for the security practices of the third-party service providers listed in this Privacy Policy, who are independently responsible for their own systems; and
- you use paasai entirely at your own risk.
Where we are required by law to do so — including under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme in Australia, or comparable laws in your jurisdiction — we will notify the relevant authority and affected individuals of an eligible data breach. We have no obligation to make any notification beyond what the law requires.
9. Your rights
Privacy laws in the country or state you live in may give you certain rights in relation to your personal information. Those rights, and the conditions, limitations, and exceptions that apply to them, are determined by the law that applies to you — not by this Privacy Policy.
Where the law that applies to you gives you a right to do so, you may request to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct personal information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your personal information;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- receive a portable copy of personal information you have provided to us;
- withdraw any consent you have given us; or
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (where applicable under US state law).
You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your jurisdiction.
To exercise any right granted to you by applicable law, contact us at msdigitalcrafts@gmail.com or via paasai.app/contact. Before responding to a request, we may:
- require you to verify your identity to our reasonable satisfaction;
- require you to provide further information about the nature or scope of your request;
- refuse the request, in whole or in part, where we are permitted or required to do so by law (including where the request is manifestly unfounded, excessive, repetitive, or made for an improper purpose); and
- charge a reasonable fee for an excessive or unfounded request, where the law permits.
We will respond to a valid request within the time required by applicable law.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising a right granted to you under California law.
10. Children
paasai is intended only for individuals who are at least 18 years of age. By using paasai, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18.
paasai is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
If we become aware, or have reason to believe, that an account belongs to a person under 18, we may suspend or delete that account and any associated information at any time, without notice and without liability to anyone.
If you are a parent or guardian and you believe that a person under 18 has provided personal information to paasai, please contact us at msdigitalcrafts@gmail.com. We will review the report and may take such action as we consider appropriate in our sole discretion.
We accept no liability for any use of paasai by a person under 18, including any loss, damage, or claim arising from a misrepresentation of age.
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy and to paasai
Changes to this Privacy Policy.
We may change, replace, or withdraw this Privacy Policy at any time, in our sole discretion. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when this version took effect.
We may, but are not required to, notify you of a change — for example, by posting a notice on paasai or by sending an email. We are not obliged to give advance notice. We are not obliged to give any notice at all where we consider the change administrative, technical, in your favour, required by law, or otherwise minor.
By continuing to access or use paasai after a change to this Privacy Policy takes effect, you accept and agree to be bound by the updated version. If you do not agree to a change, you must stop using paasai immediately. Your continued use is the sole evidence we will rely on of your acceptance.
Changes to paasai.
paasai is provided as a service that we develop, operate, and discontinue at our sole discretion. We may, at any time and without notice or liability to you or anyone else:
- change, add, suspend, withdraw, restrict, or remove any feature, function, or part of paasai;
- change the third parties we use to deliver paasai;
- change the countries from which paasai is operated or in which personal information is processed; or
- discontinue paasai entirely.
We are not obliged to keep this Privacy Policy synchronised with paasai. Where a change to paasai changes how we collect or use personal information, we will update this Privacy Policy when, and to the extent, we consider appropriate. The Privacy Policy in force at any time is the version most recently posted at paasai.app/privacy.
